Someone stepped on the turd I spent the last several weekends polishing.

Kinja'd!!!

I bought new tires and exhaust, removed and cleaned carpet and seats, changed the oil and replaced the distributor, etc. 1991 Accord EX 5spd, 140k miles. If only the insurance company could take all my sweaty, ill-equipped putzing into account. On the plus side, nobody was injured, and I get to shop for a new beater.

Glad you're ok, that looks like it could've been messy. I'm sometimes surprised at what these little older cars can take.

I was surprised how little I felt the impact. Spun the car around, but the car did a great job absorbing it. The outside of the door came in further than where the inside of the door is supposed to be, but I was in good enough shape to pull it to the side of the road and hop out the sunroof. One of those times I’m glad I didn’t go for the Civic!

I’m just glad I hadn’t installed the door speakers this morning like I wanted to. Haha

This is one of those examples when a car full of airbags would have probably caused more damage than help. Is the sunroof gone/broken? I can’t tell.

Can’t speak for the early 90s generation but I hit an elk in my ‘99 Civic going nearly 70mph and drove it for another year. It looks like crap, but it’s still on the road now!

Hopefully you’ll acquire a vehicle that’s less prone to whatever that was.

The sunroof was already full of cracks, I just always left it open and pretended it wasn’t there. This thing still drives, just not safely, given the rear passenger wheel is a little sideways.

Like the moment you just detailed your car and a bird shits on it, except much worse :(

All the wheels are pointing slightly different directions, so the other party’s insurance is paying for a rental car until I get something figured out. They want me to pick between a Focus and a Corolla, I think.
